the storm ...its coming

Steve  Mc Curry’s iconic photographs of the Sri Lankan fishermen on stilts have brought many photographers to the south of Sri Lanka near the heritage town of Galle. This photo was taken in 2010. Today these fishermen only exist for tourist and charge to take their photos. Sadly it has become yet another tourist trap. The “ Fake Stilt Fishermen”

These photos invokes deep emotions in me.

The light and drama of the moment of that day. There was a light drizzle and we were huddled in a makeshift shelter waiting for the drizzle to ease so I can take out the camera. Momentarily the light drizzle stopped and I ran out to take some shots.

Storm clouds gathering and the sun just managing to break through the rain clouds.

Yes there is always hope .. a bit of patience and inner quietness  and the most mundane moments can become moments of joy. One does not need to go to exotic locales to experience this. I enjoy these moments just sitting by the poolside as I did last night.

Sadly I see that most of us have lost the ability to sit and do nothing. We think that’s “ boring”.

Sitting alone gives you space to grow. You will need that growth and maturity…the STORM IS COMING………………………………….
